Alicia Austin-Townsend

I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) and I have been in practice since 2014. I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University as well a specialty certification in addictions. My clinical experience includes private practice, adult outpatient mental health treatment, couple and family therapy, eating disorders, crisis services, and clinical director of a children’s outpatient mental health facility. As a therapist, my goal is to create a safe and therapeutic environment that will promote growth, positivity, and healing. I also provide a judgement free, yet challenging space that will facilitate comfort and self-awareness as you progress. While I may use a combination of different modalities to fit your specific needs, my formal training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Treatment, and Strength Based Therapy. I recognize that starting therapy can be a scary process and opening up to someone you don’t know can be uncomfortable.
