I know making this step was not easy, and it is also not easy to find a provider among a sea of many similar looking profiles. I appreciate you for taking the time to read my profile and considering a partnership with me. My name is Anne Hoffman, licensed clinical social worker in New York and a licensed independent clinical social worker in Massachusetts. I have worked in the human services field for over 10 years and as a licensed mental health professional for five years. I have been living in Brooklyn, NY for 14 years and have worked with extremely diverse populations in settings including as a therapist in an outpatient clinic and in a family shelter. I have worked both as a front line social worker and therapist and as a social work supervisor. I have extensive experience in working with clients who present with symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Many of my clients also have had significant change of life events and look for guidance during these periods of adjustment, including with their relationships and change of careers. Although I have expertise in cognitive behavioral therapies, motivational interviewing, and trauma informed care, I work from a strengths based and non-judgmental approach. I will strive to meet you where you are at, so that you feel truly understood and the therapy feels most effective. My clients describe me as a very warm and authentic person. I have a background in improvisational comedy, and find that (when appropriate!) the use of humor can be a therapeutic tool in and of itself. You are a strong person for wanting to make this step.
