Brian Permenter

I received my Bachelors in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Christian Studies at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and my Masters in Clinical Psychology at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. I then acquired my LPC while working at a Behavioral Health Hospital and am currently over the counseling department for a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Shelter. While working at the Behavioral Hospital I served both inpatient and outpatient clients with a variety of counseling options including: individual, group, activity therapy, and family sessions. These clients suffered from a number of disorders ranging from Bipolar, Schizophrenia, PTSD, ADHD, Major Depression, Borderline, Anorexia, Anti-social, and Substance-Abuse. While serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault I offer individual, group, psycho-educational, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) for complex PTSD. My therapeutic approach stems from several disciplines including: Client-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Solution Focused Therapy. My role as the clinician is not to tell people what they should do or even offer advice. I trust all of my clients to be experts in what is truly best for them. My job is to create a safe, judge free space where therapeutic change can occur. It is through team work where I challenge clients to separate the mental health concern from their identity in hopes to receive true healing, peace, and confidence to thrive.
