I use cognitive behavior therapy and motivational interviewing techniques. I work with individuals and families building coping skills and making change throughout the life cycle. I have experience working with parents on parenting skills, adolescents adjusting to life circumstances including stresses in school and family life. I have treated individuals directly and indirectly impacted with addictions including alcohol, tobacco, and other substances. Tools that I include consist of Mindfulness, Progressive Relaxation, Guided Imagery, and Meditation. I continue to provide therapeutic services for adults with chronic, progressive, and terminal illness using grief counseling in coming to terms during their life changes. Most often I utilize acceptance, compassion, and supporting and understanding in fulfillment of healthy life activity. I have 30 years of individual, marriage, and family therapy work experience following my Master of Social Work degree. I have experience in urban and rural settings.
