Damaris Gracia

Damaris Gracia is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) with a specialization in Counseling and Guidance. Graduating from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in 2018 with a Masters in Education, Damaris has extensive experience in substance use, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, self-esteem, and other life experiences. With a belief that “The good life is a process not a state of being,” as stated by Carl Rogers, Damaris has previous experience working with young adults at a shelter, dealing with trauma, loss, and adjustment disorders. She has also worked with adults at the residential level who struggle with substance abuse and mood disorders. Damaris utilizes treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, positive psychology, and motivational interviewing. She is empathetic and emotionally attuned to individuals’ needs, helping them identify and articulate their feelings. With a sophisticated set of interpersonal skills, she is flexible in adapting to her clients’ characteristics, tailoring warmth, acceptance, and communication to establish an alliance.
