David Gray

I am a counselor licensed in Ohio with over 15 years of experience working in social services, community mental health, and private practice. I have had the opportunity to serve clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, and life and career challenges. Additionally I have spent a large part of my career supporting individuals in the helping professions cope with burnout, compassion fatigue, and the effects of vicarious trauma. I have also worked with individuals around integrating spiritual formation into their counseling, however, I don’t discuss spiritual health unless the client indicates this is something they are interested in. The feedback that I’ve received about my counseling style is that I’m patient, empathetic, and supportive. I believe that growth happens at the edge of our comfort zones and change happens within the context of relationships. My approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral therapy, but borrows from other disciplines as well. I think my diverse background and experience lends itself well to being able to adapt to the approach and style that best meets your needs. However, the most important thing is that you find someone you are comfortable working with. Hopefully we’ll have the chance to work together, but if not I wish you the best as you move forward in your journey.
