Hello! My name is Deborah Cho and I am a Korean-American New York native. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 8 years of providing therapy and crisis intervention services. I received my MSW degree from Columbia University School of Social Work following my BA in Psychology from Wesleyan University. I have experience working in a variety of settings such as inpatient hospital units, mobile crisis teams, homes of clients in the community, NYC public schools, and substance use rehabilitation center. While my theoretical orientation is eclectic, I lean toward Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing approaches. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career challenges, mood and personality disorders, history of abuse and trauma. My therapy style is compassionate, honest and interactive. I believe in a person-centered and strengths-based approach where I help clients identify their thought and behavioral patterns, develop healthy coping mechanisms, process their history, and understand how past experiences affect their current level of functioning. My goal is to apply my expertise to the therapeutic process in order to help my clients improve their lives and work towards attaining a sense of peace and fulfillment. โ It takes courage to seek a more meaningful and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!
