Derrell Chandler

I am a skilled, professional and resourceful Clinical Social Worker with twenty-eight years post Masters (MSW) experience. I believe in providing evidence-based, culturally sensitive, patient-focused mental health treatment and support. I have assessed, diagnosed and provided clinical, evidenced based treatment to men and women who work, young adults, the elderly and those living with chronic medical conditions. I am passionate about helping people grow and learn to be the best version of themselves. I believe that it is never too late to change, to challenge or to grow beyond our previous experiences of ourselves and our world. The one true reality is that the only constant in the universe is “Change.” Accepting this reality opens up a world of possibilities. My goal is to help you find your way to the person you want to be; one step a time. We do this without shame, guilt or any “woulda, shoulda or coulda” recriminations. I am a strong believer in the human spirit. I believe that if one could do better they would. Therefore, at any given time we are all doing the best we can; even it if may not be looking so great. The work of therapy and counseling is to help you raise the bar and know better, so you can choose it, practice it and own it as your new normal. My job is to help you identify what to work on and to support you and teach you new skills to manifest positive movement. I will offer you different perspectives for your consideration to include lessons from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and paradigms and models.
