My goal as a therapist is to help you discover how to be fully alive and vibrant in this moment and in your connection with others. I view therapy as an interactive self-discovery process. Building and increasing self awareness is essential for clarifying and acting on your preferred choices. The focus is not on what you “should” do but rather on what you want, need, and can do given your unique life circumstances. I also will work with you to heal older unresolved issues and unfinished business. I had a private practice in Bellingham, Washington for 20 years and prior to that I have worked in a variety of mental health settings. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I trained extensively in Gestalt theory and therapy and in a number of other theoretical approaches, including Transactional Analysis, Intersubjectivity, EMDR, and Body Awareness techniques. One of my specialties is working with couples and relationship issues. The therapy session is an ideal setting to attend to contact, boundary, intimacy, authenticity and ongoing conflict patterns can be explored and unraveled directly in the therapy session. There is every opportunity to bring the relationship fully alive while attending to stuck places that create longstanding difficult issues. Every relationship is different and no one can see inside the depth and nuances of a couple. However, there are common and universal processes that we all share in our relationships. I enjoy working with both the special uniqueness of your relationship and with the universal patterns that we all experience in relationship.
