Evonne Nelson-Smith

I am licensed in Georgia as a licensed (clinical) professional counselor, and I have been in practice since 2014 when I graduated from Argosy University, Atlanta, with a Masters in Community Counseling. I have worked in residential treatment centers, for an outpatient mental health clinic, private practice, as well as with military families in school settings. My primary therapeutic approach is person centered, and I enjoy helping adolescents and adults live happier, healthier lives, by improving their mental health and education. In my experience, I have worked with those who suffer from or have concerns including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma,communication, critical thinking, and other behavioral issues. My approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapy, and experiential therapy, to name a few. Based on the initial session, treatment will be tailored to the needs of each individual. I welcome the opportunity to improve day to day functionality.  Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy playing basketball. I also enjoy cooking, spending time with my husband and dog, and traveling to new places.
