James completed his Master’s degreee in mental health counseling from Webster University in St Louis, MO. James has over 15 years of clinical experience across a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric , substance abuse treatment based in residential centers, community based substance abuse and day treatment. James has provided clinical and administrative supervision to therapists and case managers in managed care settings. James has a broad range of clinical experience with individuals and groups across the life span in the following areas: substance abuse and recovery, depression, grief, individuals with special needs, trauma and abuse, behavioral and discipline challenges with teens, chronic mental illnesses. James’s approach emphasizes the mutual development of goals for therapy and flexibility to meet clients where they are at. James is trained in substance abuse recovery dynamics, supports both 12 step and non 12 step recovery programs, cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy and solution focused therapies. James specializes in relapse prevention and mindfulness practice. He has long embraced the mind, body and spirit connection as integral to recovery.
