Jiao Shen

My name is Jiao Shen. I am a licensed therapist (LPC) and board-certified dance movement therapist (BC-DMT) based in the greater Philadelphia area, PA. I explored different populations, settings, and diagnoses during my practice. They include a population with behavior, substance abuse, or disabled issues. Also, there is a wide range of the diagnoses, such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, ODD, schizophrenia, and dementia. My training growth and personal assimilation experience guided me to use an integrated theoretical approach with a psychodynamic and humanistic perspective. I am also a bilingual Christian therapist, who’s originally from China. From my personal and working experience, I understand that when people must adapt to a new culture, dynamic, social, mental, or physical status, it’s easy to feel vulnerable and insecure. I see myself as an interpreter who provides empathy as a language to communicate, a helper who can enhance the individual’s adaptive functioning, and a bridge to finding their connection of mind, body, and spirit. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started! You can schedule a live video session with me. These sessions will last 30 or 45 minutes. Between the sessions, I generally check messages a few times per day Mon-Fri (9am- 3pm), and respond as quickly as I can. I do appreciate your patience when it takes a bit longer at times, as I may be tending to other clients or professional/personal responsibilities.
