I have worked as an educator, community organizer, mediator, trainer, and social worker in the inner cities of Chicago, Milwaukee, and Washington, D.C. I have been trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I work with adults, adolescents, children, and families in the areas of: crisis response intervention to disaster-struck communities, conflict resolution and mediation, refugee support, communication strategies, death and dying, AIDS and catastrophic illness counseling, anxiety and depression, relationship issues, chemical dependency, foster care, adoption, mental and physical challenges, and physical abuse and neglect. In addition, I have lived and worked in Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, Iran, Sudan, Ukraine, Russia, Indonesia, Cambodia, India, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, South Africa, Tanzania, and Haiti in organizational, community, and individual initiatives. I have been a mental health volunteer for the American Red Cross for over 25 years in numerous national disasters, including the 9/11 response at the Pentagon and NYC. I trained at the Center of Excellence in Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance at the Bethesda Naval Center in Maryland, at the Critical Incident Stress Foundation in Baltimore, and at the Columbia University Public Health in Complex Emergencies in Neum, Bosnia. I have advanced certification in international psychosocial responses to disaster and humanitarian emergencies. I was a recipient of President Obamaโ€™s Volunteer Service Award in 2011. I look forward to working with you. I have experience in helping clients with stress, anxiety and depression. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
