Kathleen Hinchee

Call me Kate ! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years experience in Private Practice, working with adults experiencing difficulties with a wide range of issues. I have treated adults presenting with mental health issues that include depression, anxiety, trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, phobias, and mood disorders. I have experience working with individuals who are surviving domestic violence, family problems, grief and loss issues and other changes in life circumstances. In addition to working in private practice, I have experience working in the public sector, as a counselor with Vocational Rehabilitation, County Mental Health programs, Children and Families, and this gives me some knowledge of systems and resources that can be an asset to my clients. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, especially in facilitating change and helping individuals achieve their goals. I am a Trauma Informed, Client Centered and Solution Focused therapist, and balance empathy with gentle nudges to increase awareness and the courage to try new skills. Most of my therapy sessions include a combination of therapy models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I am certified in EMDR and have had some positive experiences using this technique for resolving trauma, phobias, anxiety and depression. EMDR can also be resourceful for increasing motivation and positive self regard. Engaging in therapy is a brave step, and finding the right therapist can be a challenge, especially in the newness of telehealth! One of my favorite quotes about counselors is “Counselors are like shoes, not every shoe fits”. That being said, I have a great track record for being able to accommodate a lot of different personalities and unique situations. I look forward to working with you.
