Dr. Kathryn Oden

Dr. Kathryn Oden, also known as Dr. Kat, is an experienced therapist with over 30 years of practice. She has worked with a diverse range of individuals and has a particular interest in supporting those undergoing surgical procedures to improve their lives, such as plastic surgery or weight loss surgery. Dr. Oden is dedicated to helping couples navigate the changes that arise from these surgeries and prefers to see individuals separately to ensure their feelings are not compromised. She began her career as a Master’s level counselor, providing diagnostic and support services to newly incarcerated individuals within the Texas prison system. Dr. Oden later expanded her expertise to include various diagnostic areas, from intellectual to neurological issues, while working at the Texas Prison System Psychiatric hospital. Throughout her career, she has been a staunch advocate for her patients’ needs, advocating for appropriate dietary requirements for Muslim patients and pushing for various therapies for her imprisoned clients, such as music and occupational therapy. Dr. Oden’s dedication to her patients extends beyond their time in therapy, as she continues to support a former patient who was on Death Row and has since been exonerated.
