Kenneth Bedeker

I am a licensed mental health counselor with over 22 years of professional experience in community mental health and 5 years experience as a licensed mental health counselor. I have helped people with a wide variety of problems including management of symptoms of depression, anxiety, impulsivity and anger. I have provided effective treatment for individuals with mood disorders, personality disorders, substance abuse and addiction disorders, and psychotic disorders. I have always believed in taking an eclectic and holistic approach to healing, encouraging people to examine all aspects of their life; mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, social and vocational, and understanding how they all impact each other in positive or negative ways. The most important ingredient for a successful counseling experience is the creation of a strong therapeutic alliance. I seek to create this through empathic and non judgmental listening, collaborative treatment planning and perhaps most importantly the development of a trusting relationship. As your therapist I will try to help you to understand the various therapeutic approaches available to us and make recommendations based on your needs, goals, personality and background. Some such approaches include Humanistic therapy and other talk therapy approaches, CBT, mindfulness and Schema therapy. “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” People often find that first step to be the most difficult, but also the one that creates the momentum for progress and lasting change.
