About Kristi Porter's service

I am excited to join you on your journey to a better life. My name is Kristi Porter and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I became Licensed in 2011 but have been working with clients to help them endure, survive and thrive during difficult life stages since 2004 when I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida State University. I have background and experience in the Dependency and Child Welfare setting, being trained and credited as an Adoption Competent Therapist. I spent a number of years as a Hospice Bereavement and Grief support coordinator, I am experienced with the unique needs and experiences of clients who have found themselves in need of the Inpatient Psychiatric setting, I now provide outpatient supportive therapy and currently I am working with many Veterans. ABOUT ME I approach every client with a strength based perspective seeking to assist you with life changes to make your life more calm and assure that your day to day experiences provide you with outlets to care for not only your physical but also your mental health needs. Seeking to take the experiences that you have had or endured and manifesting them into awareness of the wisdom and strength that your unique experiences brought to you whether good or bad. I hope to work with you to developing distress tolerance skills, mindfulness, and radical self acceptance, while we challenge cognitive distortions or stories you made up about your self that don’t give an accurate picture of who you are or what you are capable of. My goal is to motivate and impower you to live your best life. Your in charge and you already took the first step. My experience is best with adults, and older adults, and helping those struggling with PTSD, Bipolar and Mood Disorders (Depression), Anxiety Disorders, Grief and Loss, Caregiver Relationships. I am very client centered. I very much respect that this space is sacred and that you are the master of your own future. I provide a mirror to help you gain different perspectives of the problem or issue you seek to work on, all the while realizing that sometime slow steady progress is the best approach. The resilience and strength of the human spirit is something that will never cease to amaze me. I look forward to learning as much from you as I am able to help you learn about yourself and what you need to be happy safe and fulfilled.
