Lauren Mendoza

Lauren Mendoza is an LPC based in Texas with a passion for mental health. With over a year of experience working with local mental health authorities, Lauren has provided intensive counseling services to a diverse range of clients, including probationary clients and those in out-of-home placements. For the past four years, she has focused on working with youth and their families, while also gaining experience in working with adults since 2016. Lauren obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Communication Studies from Texas State University in 2014. She then went on to complete her master’s degree in Counselor Psychology from Texas A&M-Kingsville in 2016. During her time in graduate school, Lauren presented her research on Stereotype Threat and Morality Salience at two different psychological associations. Her research aimed to prove that individuals can overcome adversities and ultimately succeed, a theory she successfully validated. Lauren’s therapeutic approach is primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with additional techniques drawn from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Solution-focused therapy, and Person-centered therapy.
