First, let’s acknowledge what courage it takes to reach out for help. Any step towards growth, even if it feels small at the time, is monumental. Counseling works because most of us can benefit from slowing down and examining our lives through a different lens. We often don’t have someone in our support network who can sit with us in an honest, compassionate and non-judgmental way to explore the different facets of our current situation. This gentle inquiry into our lives can often illuminate changes we can make or insights that can bring us closer to our desired reality. For the last ten years, I have counseled individuals through a variety of issues such as addiction, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, difficulties with anger, and parenting dilemmas.
