Hello and Welcome! I’m Magda Jackson-Cooper. I’m a Clinical Social Worker licensed in the District of Columbia. I am very glad that you have taken time to do this for yourself. It’s not always easy to make the decision to take care of yourself. Self-care is especially important as we face the challenges we do today. I understand this may be new for some and may be intimidating. I will do my best to make you feel safe and to make the process of sharing and partnering together one that is helpful. I have more than 30 years working with adults of many backgrounds and cultures, lifestyles and those who identify as LGBTQ. I also have experience in working with adults who are survivors of childhood trauma, including abuse by Parents and or Caregivers. In my practice I use a variety of practice methods to help my clients. These might include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). There will be times when I may ask you to push past some emotional blocks and fears, which may feel uncomfortable, but I will always be respectful of your feelings and boundaries. There may be times where some โhomeworkโ specific to your needs may be requested of you and we can agree together on what that might be. My style is warm and open with a bit of humor meant to calm and reduce anxiety. I know that your journey may be more challenging than you might expect, but this is such an important step that you’ve taken and I’ll be there to support you along the way. I look forward to working together! Magda Jackson-Cooper
