Dr. Mark Rauser

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience providing clinical services. After completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology and my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, I was awarded my doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago Campus. After completing my program, I worked in a variety of settings in order to gain relevant experience with a diverse patient population, such as schools, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a geriatric continuum of care facility, and private practice. I then chose to focus my attention on my private practice in Chicago, Illinois, providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of presenting concerns for 10 years before moving to Maui, Hawaii. Since the move, I have continued to work in private practice along with providing and supervising mental health services in our public school system. I have extensive experience working with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, attention-deficit disorders, self-esteem troubles, trauma, adjusting to life events, relationship troubles, and developmental disorders. My therapeutic approach is best described as integrative, as I work to utilize the framework that I see as being most helpful to each individual or family with whom I work. I build upon a foundation of psychodynamic and interpersonal psychotherapy, while I integrate aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and self-actualization and self-esteem building. I view the psychologist-patient relationship as being collaborative, with both individuals working together to help understand the patient and the patients’ difficulties more clearly. It is my job to create a safe, comfortable environment where we can work together to help you better understand yourself and your difficulties more clearly, as well as develop a meaningful, helpful approach to resolve your concerns.
