Dr. Melissa Fulgieri

I am NYS Licensed Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working with clients with a wide range of concerns including, depression, anxiety, substance abuse and other addictions, stress, and general life concerns. My approach to therapy is that of teamwork. My main goal is to build a therapeutic alliance and work collaboratively with my clients, alongside each other, as two experts coming together. I like to meet my clients where they are at. People enter into therapy for a myriad of reasons. It is important to me, as a therapist, to fully understand your personal reasons and work from there to build a greater understanding of your concerns and your goals. While I tend to use approaches such as cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, client-centered and interpersonal therapies, and solution-based treatments, I let my client’s needs and goals drive my primary approach. I welcome feedback as treatment goes along so that we can change the focus or type of treatment as needed. Remember, we are a team!
