My name is Mercedes D. Green. I have served in the military for over 18 years as Military Police, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant. I am currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience of 3 years in therapeutic services and 12 years in case management services. Over the span of 12-18 years, I have worked directly with institutionalized offenders, trauma survivors, military personnel, adult parents, transitioning adolescents, and adult/child suicidality. I have experience working with individuals, families, couples, and groups. My methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt Therapy. I am currently based in Southern California working with adults and youth in crisis intervention services. I have a very mindful and empowering counseling style. I am welcoming and empathetic to every client/family/couple. I believe every client/family/couple presents a unique experience and thus requires methods tailored specifically to them. I am flexible and willing to change an approach if growth is not reflected in the measured progress. I believe in listening to the client as the client is the expert on their presented problem. It is always rewarding to witness a client take the first step towards therapy because the acknowledgment of change is in itself empowering. I look forward to working with you once you are willing to take that first step. Let’s place value on your journey towards change.
