Dr. Philip Townsend

Dr. Philip Townsend is a highly experienced clinical psychologist with over 40 years of experience in private practice. He specializes in individual and family psychotherapy, working with clients of all ages and addressing a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, major life changes, parenting styles, academic direction, and personality disorders. Dr. Townsend’s treatment style is focused on identifying an individual’s strengths and developing personalized action plans to help them achieve their personal goals. He draws from various therapeutic approaches including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, client-centered therapy, and relationship therapy. Dr. Townsend obtained his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston and has a diverse clinical background. He started his career in the U.S. Army, providing psychological services to military personnel at West Point Military Academy and working with American soldiers in Vietnam. He later worked for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission, where he developed psychological services for adolescents.
