Piyumi Buddhakorala

My name is Piyumi Buddhakorala and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of New York and Certified as a Seminar Training in Field Instruction (SIFI). I graduated from Columbia School of Social Work and have over ten years of experience working with individuals with trauma, substance use, employment concerns, depression, anxiety, psychotic, bipolar and borderline symptoms. My approach with you is non-judgmental, empathic, strength-based, and collaborative. I foster a warm and safe environment in which you can share whatever is troubling you. My unique approach focuses on utilizing Polyvagal Theory interlaced with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma informed treatment, Mindfulness techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and Crisis Management through a neurological lens. My overall person-centered approach has left my clients feeling supported and filled with hope. I believe that you are the expert of your life and I am there as a source of support.
