Prof. Rafael Angulo

Blessings! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a professor at the USC School of Social Work. I have been practicing psychotherapy for over 15 years and mentoring graduate students to become outstanding mental health professionals for almost 20 years. The world can surely seem a dark place at times. One of my greatest joy is to walk alongside you on your journey to wellness in becoming fully human, fully alive. My approach to treatment is not based on pathology or the four ‘D’s of disease, dysfunction, disorder, and deficit. Rather, through a lovingkindness approach using a dynamic relational model, I desire to explore with you triggers, traumas, strengths, and moments of transformation for realizing and practicing your true self. Harper Lee, in the novel, To Kill a Mocking Bird writes, “You never really understand another person until you consider things from his point of view – until you climb inside his skin and walk around in it.” I hope you will allow me to climb into your skin and together explore your past and present for an engaged future/present moment.
