Namaste! Take a deep breath. Take off your shoes and stay awhile. My name is Sophie, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I know it is not always easy to ask for help. It is very brave that you are here doing so! I hope that I can be a level sounding board and safe place for you to find what you are searching for today. I have been a therapist for six years, having worked in substance abuse and mental health for thirteen years. I have worked in high psychiatric care with co-occurring substance abuse, trauma and eating disorder treatment, private practice and varying levels of care throughout. I took Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) basic training 1 and 2 and utilize the mindfulness and resourcing aspects of EMDR when applicable. Some of the approaches I use in session are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Training, Solution-Focused, Insight-Oriented and Experiential Therapy. Due to the population I have been working with, I have had the pleasure of working with ages 16 and above as well as their families of all ages. I believe that each of us is truly unique and individualistic. We must be treated as such. I will never make the same treatment plan for two people. I am extremely collaborative with my clients as well. I will provide homework if you AGREE to complete the assignments. I am big on you believing in what we are doing. I love setting goals with my clients; goals that you chose so that YOU get to watch yourself complete each goal! I do NOT have one specific type of cliental. I work with all humans.
