Tara Sheffield

I am a wife, mother, Texas Licensed Professional Counselor. (LPC) therapist, and professional school counselor. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a focus in Special Education from Langston University and a Master of Education degree in Counseling, from Dallas Baptist University. My previous counseling experience includes: working with families and individuals to overcome depression, grief, trauma, and adjustment issues. I have also worked with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder develop social skills, and with parents of children with special needs in a K-12 school district and private settings. I have over 25 years of experience in the field of education. It is my desire to work beside you to discover your truth in a safe and nurturing environment. It is my goal to help you work through your emotions as we walk through traumatic experiences that may be keeping you from positive growth and discovering your authentic self. I will also help you develop the skills and solutions that will have a positive impact on your interpersonal relationships, and allow you to live your best life. I use Mindfulness, Solution-Focused therapy, Crisis Intervention, and other modalities to accommodate the needs of my clients. I am passionate about working with children aged twelve and up, teens, and adults. It is also my calling to work with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder as well Sp Parents of Special Needs Children. I have over 20 years of experience and training doing so. I also have experience in helping individuals cope and heal from a variety of issues including trauma/abuse, anxiety, and depression. I also specialize in providing a safe therapeutic space for individuals who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color).
