Thomas Slough

Thomas Slough is a highly experienced therapist with over 40 years of counseling expertise. He began his career at MHMR, where he honed his skills in individual and family therapy. Thomas then transitioned into private practice, specializing in abuse issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Throughout his career, he has successfully diagnosed and treated over 100 Vietnam Veterans and 10 Desert Storm Veterans for PTSD. Additionally, Thomas has worked extensively with both adult and child victims of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse. Currently, he provides counseling services to the local public school system, specifically working with students who have an Emotional Disability, Autism, and Other Health Impairment (OHI). Thomas firmly believes that trust and communication are the foundation of effective counseling, emphasizing the importance of a healthy therapeutic relationship. While he generally adopts a Cognitive-Behavioral approach, Thomas recognizes that emotional processing is sometimes necessary for individuals to progress in their lives. He understands the significance of being a supportive ally to his clients and has a deep understanding of multicultural issues, having been married for 40 years to his Mexican-American wife.
