Todd A. Shapiro, LCSW, MPA , a licensed Psychotherapist in Florida and Connecticut, earned a BS in Public Health and Education from the University of Massachusetts and an MSW and MPA from Syracuse University. He brings 35 plus years of social work and psychotherapy experience to BetterHelp. Using skills I have learned as a therapist, I work with adolescents, adults, families, and couples. I am equipped to treat symptomology related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, PTSD, marital relationships, parenting, divorce, Bipolar I and II, borderline personality disorders, ACOA, and addictions. I use various modalities to assist his clients to show progress as fast as possible. I am easy-going, humorous, and sometime use a directive style. I am very effective at using EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) at helping couples understand and learn better relationship skills and communication. Parenting is also a challenge; I bring 35 plus years of working with youth in residential and outpatient programs. He is skilled at helping parents develop safe and effective discipline skills leading to healthy family relationships. My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a pretty good sense of humor. I also like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I’m here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment.
