Hello, I’m Vickie. Thank you for reviewing my profile. I’m a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. I’ve been working in the counseling field for 11 years and have been fully licensed for the past five years. Before becoming a counselor, I worked as a teacher in the public-school system for over a decade. As a counselor, I have worked in the school system, an inpatient mental health facility, a non-profit children’s counseling center, a women’s crisis center, and in private practice. These different working environments have made me comfortable working with people of all ages and with a variety of challenges. My goal as a counselor is to provide a warm, comfortable, caring environment where individuals can clarify life problems, develop insight, learn and practice new skills, and feel empowered to overcome challenges and obtain/maintain overall emotional wellness and resiliency. I strive to empower clients to discover their own truth, inner strength, and potential for personal growth and success in all areas of life. Clients find that I provide a safe, accepting, healing environment for persons of all races, ethnicities, spiritual practices, gender identities, and sexual orientations. I utilize many different techniques as a counselor, but tend toward Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness most of the time. I like exploring the interplay between thoughts, feelings, and behavior and seeing how changing one of these aspects can affect the others. I enjoy working with older adolescents, college students, and adults. Areas of specialization include recovery from domestic violence and sexual abuse, LGBTQ issues, anxiety, depression, anger, relationship issues, divorce/separation, self-esteem issues, and women’s issues. My services are open to anyone, regardless of race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, gender identity or expression. I look forward to working with you!
