Vivian Hicks

I am Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have been credentialed by Washington State as a Child Mental Health Specialist and a Mental Health Professional. I am also licensed in the state of Alabama as an Licensed Professional Counselor. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, individuals and couples. My priority is to create space for my clients to feel safe and supported with whatever challenges they are currently facing. I have advanced training in Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and emotion focused couples therapy. I have worked in a community mental health setting and correctional facilities dealing with co-morbid disorders. My specialties include medical family therapy (those dealing with chronic medical conditions and treatment adherence challenges), trauma, couples therapy, specifically, attachment injuries; law enforcement dealing with vicarious trauma and duty related stressors and substance use. Although sessions can be difficult at times, I provide a supportive and comfortable environment around hard to discuss issues. I am a well rounded therapist with an additional master’s degree in Organizational Management, an adult education teaching credential as well as a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.
