Whitney Leon

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have worked in in education, criminal justice, with LGBTQI individuals, addiction, and families. I enjoy working with people that recognize that as hard as they try, it can be challenging to keep it all together. Life can be really stressful. Family conflict, relationship struggles, self-image, trauma and hard memories, sexuality, work demands, LGBTQ+ issues, school pressures, money, stresses… all of it can feel really overwhelming. I enjoy working with people who want to take whatever their next best step is, whether it is toward healing a relationship, ending a relationship, developing a healthy sense of self, or figuring out how to reach a goal. I approach my work with clients from a person-centered, non-judgmental place. I am not the expert on you, but you are. Even if the waters seem murky right now, I can help you on your journey. I have a warm and accepting disposition, and use solution-focused elements to help move toward desired goals, cognitive behavioral techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts, and motivational interviewing to help gain understanding and clarity. Outside of therapy, I am also an artist, and if it works for you, might just encourage you to use creativity as part of your journey. It can be nerve-wracking to find a therapist that you trust and feel comfortable with. You’re taking an amazing step by just looking.
